Her Life
Ms. Nchong Joana Essim, affectionately known to many as Mama Joan was born on January 20, 1954 in Mamfe, Cameroon.
Following completion of her higher education, Mama Joan worked at the American Embassy in Yaounde, Cameroon for seventeen years after which, she migrated to the USA in 1993.
In the year 2000 she obtained certification in event management from The George Washington University School of Business and Public Management and a diploma in Psychology/Social Work from Stratford Career Institute in Washington DC. In 2004 Ms. Joana Essim graduated with a BS in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
Ms. Essim worked at the World Bank in Washington DC for over 15 years where she fudged many lasting friendships and sisterhoods before finally retiring 2016. Mama Joan relocated to Texas in 2018 from Maryland.

Mama Joan was , a woman of exemplary faith, integrity, character and wisdom.Though her calm and unassuming demeanor meant she sometimes went unnoticed in a crowded room, the warmth of her gentle soul and uplifting morning text messages left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mama Joana was dedicated member of Upper Bayang Maryland, MOWA/Eyumema and MECA Houston. She was a dedicated friend and mentor to many
